Freedom Beyond Entrepreneurship

True freedom isn’t just about entrepreneurship or money; it’s about mindset. Align with your passion and embrace the possibilities.

A common misconception is: “I want more freedom, so I’m going to become an entrepreneur.” It’s true that as an entrepreneur, you can schedule your own time, choose who you work with, and decide what you do. Ultimate freedom, right?

Freedom

Freedom seems to be a collective desire—the freedom to be more yourself, to create effortlessly, and to express yourself in the world. It’s a rightful desire. I believe that if we all felt the freedom to follow our hearts and put our talents and passions into the world, it could have a huge impact on society.

But that freedom isn’t necessarily tied to having a lot of money or starting a business. Yes, those things can contribute if they suit you, but real freedom lies in your mindset. How free do you allow yourself to be? What beliefs are holding you back in life? What do you think is or isn’t possible? And what paths and possibilities do you thereby close off to yourself?

Although I’m an enthusiastic entrepreneur myself and often coach entrepreneurs, this doesn’t mean that entrepreneurship is sacred to me. After all, that would just be another framework. I’m most curious about the person I’m talking to—curious about their passion and talent. But be careful: just because you’re good at something doesn’t automatically mean it’s what you most want to do. You really have to be into it, because that’s where the magic happens—where things start to flow.

This may not be clear to everyone at first, but when the moment comes, it’s crystal clear to both me and the other person: goosebumps and tingling all over. Then you just know: this is it, this is my answer, and this is what I should follow.

Tuning In

Once you grasp that feeling, you can align your whole being with it. You can do this at the beginning of the day through meditation, writing, or another morning ritual that suits you. But you also need to take action. People sometimes misunderstand the “law of attraction” as if you just make a wish and everything will magically happen. You need to get moving. The good news is: you can’t go wrong! How great is that? All you have to do is take a step. Whether it’s attending a networking meeting, calling an old client, or even telling the baker your big dream, it doesn’t matter. As long as you start expressing what you want, and that initial intention is true for you, it becomes easier and easier to open up to the unknown. Then, you start to enjoy the life that’s unfolding before your eyes, and you become more and more curious about what else can happen. The sky becomes the limit!

And whether that’s as an entrepreneur, an employee, a volunteer, or a combination of all three, it doesn’t matter anymore. If you can feel, “This is where I come into my own, this is where I get super happy every day,” then you’re already there.

"I am Tessa Smits, and I will take you on an adventurous journey to explore the unknown and the supposedly impossible. My second novel, ‘I Give Birth To The Universe’, is a prime example of this, where our infinite creative power takes center stage. For me, art is the means to make tangible what cannot be expressed in words. Whether I’m creating art, writing, or crafting something else, my intention remains the same: to seek out what truly touches us, what is real, and what reminds us as human beings of who we truly are—immeasurably powerful."
