Long live the chaotic work balance

Embracing the creative chaos—juggling multiple projects at once fuels my inspiration and drives my passion. Long live the creative flow!

Driven by creation, things can still get chaotic at times. My primary school teacher once wrote in my report, “Tessa has ten things open at once; she needs to learn to finish something first.”

Well, no, teacher! Tessa was simply inspired by all those different toys and activities, and she did end up finishing everything—just not one at a time, as would have been more practical for you.

Nowadays, I probably would have been medicated with one thing or another to better function in the classroom and the education system. Thank God that wasn’t the norm back then.

It took some time to undo the inhibiting effect of this rejection on my busy and imaginative personality, but eventually, my creative talent was given free rein again.

And today, I felt supremely happy, even if just for a moment. I found myself in the ultimate work balance, where everything was happening at once: putting dots on two different artworks, working digitally on a talisman/tattoo design, writing a blog, preparing to pack book orders, creating a new poster, and processing registrations for the DotArt workshops.

It’s all flowing! One thing inspires the creation of something else.

And that is entirely the point.

Long live chaos! ❤️❤️

"I am Tessa Smits, and I will take you on an adventurous journey to explore the unknown and the supposedly impossible. My second novel, ‘I Give Birth To The Universe’, is a prime example of this, where our infinite creative power takes center stage. For me, art is the means to make tangible what cannot be expressed in words. Whether I’m creating art, writing, or crafting something else, my intention remains the same: to seek out what truly touches us, what is real, and what reminds us as human beings of who we truly are—immeasurably powerful."
